- Report it to your Financial Institution and immediately close any accounts which may have been compromised
- Contact the police and file a police report
- Be sure to ask for a copy of the report
- You may need the report when dealing with claims made by creditors

- Get a free copy of your credit report
- Close any accounts that the thief opened or compromised
- If your driver’s license or government identification card has been stolen, cancel it immediately and get a replacement
- File an official complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
